Fashion Show!

Hello all! Sorry for the slow down in the updates. I have been busy at work doing all sorts of online work like company emails, website work (which is set up now to take online orders!), flyers and all the like design work. But most importantly we pulled off two fashion shows! One through SUNY Cortland and another through SUNY IT! I would like to say thank you to the amazing work the people who put on the shows did. Also, I would like to invite everyone to take a look at the pictures on our Facebook Page searchable under Rum and Couture. Up are all the looks from the SUNY IT fashion show. All of these looks are now available at www.rumandcouture.com also. I'm so happy for the opportunity to do the shows again and can't wait for next year.

The Fem-Belt

The waist belt has been working its way around the spectrum from tiny skinny belts to huge suit of armor belts. But all the hardware tends to make the belts edgy. I'm usually raving about the cocktail ring that holds it's own at a party or is the start of a great party conversation...but today I'm paying tribute to the funky ring. Not exactly cocktail but more of a little funk in your life. The buckle ring is a cute play on the usual boring belt or shoe buckle. The white flower ring screams spring. And of course, both are sporting my favorite color....sparkle!

Get wild with your wallet!

So when I say get wild with your wallet I do not mean clear out your bank account and max out the credit cards. There is an easier way. Adding a zebra print or snake skin textured wallet to any bag can really spice it up and add a little fun to it. I just got these in and I'm so excited to see how people pair them with their bags. I started to analyze my shopping experiences when I'm looking for something to go out in. They are all mostly the same...I pick a top or dress, one or two accessories (be it bracelets or shoes) and then feel the needs to analyze how I'm going to do my makeup as I wait in line to check out. No matter what I end up imagining, there is always one truth. I will be sporting lipgloss. And then it hit me. What would be a better shopping day than if I got everything I needed including my must have gloss in one place? Nothing! Except maybe getting a free gloss. So here it is. Fashion Show Coming up

Here is a blurry picture of one of my new dresses going into the fashion show. Because I now have a small boutique, half of the show will be stuff I made as a one of a kind, and half will be dresses that you can buy in the shop. I'm very excited. It shows my design ability and also what my new shop entails.

Even better, you can now buy all the stuff in my shop after the show. Pieces from the show will be available after April 18th.

So what is the next step? The next step is setting up the merchandise better in the boutique. All this week I will be putting up new fixtures and display cases to better showcase what we have to offer.

I'm very excited to say we are going to be continuing to make dresses through out the summer even though there will not be a fashion show during that time. I will be making new pieces for the store continuously.

Puffy Spring Skirts

Big Puffy Skirt Time. I would just like to say that even though most people complain about puffy skirts making their butts look big, I will venture to say that it’s not a bad thing. I know everyone is trying to slim down, but I would like to pay homage to curves with skirts that accentuate the butt and make it look bigger. This skirt can be bought at topshop.com and is a great spring piece. Next time on this blog…more skirts. I am determined to bring skirts back into my wardrobe.

As for the Rum&Couture line? I have been working on new pieces to show at this springs fashion shows. Fashion shows? Yes! I will be doing two this coming spring. I will let you know the details of the show as it gets closer!

Tasteful Holiday Sweaters!

I recently went to an "ugly sweater" party and I much enjoyed donning a tacky sweater and red tights for the holiday. But, there are ways to enjoy a good holiday sweater with out all the tacky. Holiday sweaters have been given a bad name due to the fact that most of them are tacky. Nordstrom.com has a great selection of sweaters that I would wear to a holiday party. Here is one. This is the Free People "Snow" Fair Isle Sweater. The color is just fabulous. I also love the stripes knitted in because they are very subtle while still keeping the traditional holiday sweater feel.

Christmas Ornaments for the Fashion Forward

This is the picture of the supplies you need for making Christmas bow ornaments. You just need red and white ribbon. I cut mine into 19" strips. Then I tied them into bows and put ornament hooks through the back of them. Put them on the tree and Voila! you have very cute bow ornaments. Just some holiday fashion fun for you.

So here is a drawing that I did for class. I was trying to embody the 1970's punk look. I loved ripped jeans as well as v-neck shirts so this look really appeals to me. I have decided to carry some very soft v-neck tee shirts like the one in the drawing in the boutique which is now open. I realized that basics are very hard to find. It bothers me I cannot find a basic tee shirt. I am very excited to say that I will be be putting clothes online and you will be able to purchase Rum&Couture clothing at www.rumandcouture.com! This is just what I needed. A little practice drawing corsets. I must say. I do love them. And, my fashion show is coming up this Saturday! SUNY Cortland hosts a Music for the Cause event where the proceeds from the show go to a different cause each year. My line of corsets and skirts will be showing at this event. I am very happy to announce that it is November 7th and my first day of the clothing shop being open is going to be November 9th. Thanks to all of my fans!

New Boutique

This is the good news. I am putting my clothes into a boutique downtown! I'm super excited. The place is not into clothing right now, due to the fact that they are all hair and products. I really love the boutique and I am working with the owner to make room for a clothing line. I really love this picture because the color scheme is amazing with the green and the light pink. I hope to incorporate the colors into the store downtown. It's also full of furniture which I think makes the place look comfortable and welcoming. I'll keep you picture updated about the process.

My Tulle Obsession

Here is the inspiration for what I like to think is my attempt into working with TuTUs. I happen to love them and then Add the fact that you can find amazing tulle colors and you have me hooked. I'm going to attempt a few skirts that I plan on showing on the runway. Below are the pictures that I look to for inspiration when making the new skirts. Here is the inspiration for my fall line. I'm going off the femininity of Alice with the wild side of the other characters. I am going to do an entire line of skirts that are one of a kind. I have black corsets to go with each dress. I want the contrast to speak for itself. Plus, there is nothing more exciting to me than frills and ribbons!

HOW TO PACK FOR 5 DAYS

On my last trip to Florida I realized what I have known for years. I am an overpacker. I have no ability to minimize. I could have saved money on suitcase charges by just bringing a carry on and leaving what I never even take out of my suitcase at home.

So how do you pack for a five day trip to a warmer place? Well here is what I actually ended up wearing, which ends up being less than half of what I packed.

First rule of packing...always check a ten day weather report and plan for the lowest temps and the worst weather they try and throw at you. In my case that was low sixties for a day and two days of rain. Also, no matter how hot the weather is, there is also very cold air conditioning.

For my five day trip I was able to wear, and should have only packed the following...

2 pairs of jeans, 1 sweater, 1 hooded sweatshirt, 2 bathing suits, 1 pair of sneakers, 2 pairs of sandels, 2 pairs of heels, 2 sundresses, 2 going out dresses, 2 pair of sleep shorts, 2 pairs of shorts, 1 skirt, 2 tops, and 2 long sleeve shirts. Even though this seems like a lot, it rolls very small and all fit into my carryon suitcase along with other things I needed. This includes my camera, ipod, makeup/toothbrush, and hair products. Because the plane regulations only allow very small sizes (you should always check what the oz. regulations are before packing) they take up very little room.

I found this picture on flicker and thought that it was a good example of packing. Try it. You can avoid packing a large suitcase that you will have to pay for if you just think ahead and make good packing choices.

Summer in Alaska Sketches

Well here is page from my notebook of sketches. This is the original sketch page from the Rum&Couture Recycles show in the fall of '08. You can see how things change in just a few short weeks. I didn't even end up using fur in anything I did.

I started with the idea that I could recycle some material that gets wasted a lot in our society. I thought of fur first because of the animals that get hurt by it. I wanted to make a summer line that incorporated fur in some ways. The best way I thought to do it was making bathing suits and short summer dresses and pairing them with books and heels that were accented with fur.

What I ended up doing as most know was recycling T-Shirts. I know that there are so many T-shirt used for promotional events that they become disposable like trash. So I took T-shirts and made dresses and tops that were fit to go out to dinner in.

Next post: I plan on showing you how to pack for a 5 day vacation to some place warm with just a carry on suit case!

Why I Love Shop Flick!

This dress is the Ric Rac Camdyn in Carnival Print. I love this dress for more than one reason. The dress is off of shopflick.com and they feature designers of all areas. They have really cool clothes to offer and you can see the designers talk about their lines. It makes the shopping really personal. This dress is a three tier skirt with a clinch top. It's a beautiful summer dress, not to mention the pattern is just perfect. The victorian ladies playing games is both reminicent of the dress itself as well as the summer feel of the entire piece.

A Little Bit of Fierce for the Spring Line

Well I would like to start out by saying thank you to my beautiful model Jessica. She rocks this dress in the most amazing way.

I just wanted to share some of the wilder pieces that I did for the show seeing that I have shown you mostly tame and pretty dresses. Not to say that this dress is not pretty, but it is in no way delicate. I paired a bold cheetah print with the soft silky floral that I used in two other dresses. You may recognize the print from the long floor length dress because it is the same one in pink.

I chose to do the halter piece and the bottom ruffles in that material to give the dress a flirty feel. The structure belt is there to balance it out and enhance to structure of the bodice/skirt of the dress. All together I feel like this was one of my favorite pieces even though I didn't even like it when I was first done with it.

I guess it just took a fierce lady to make this dress work.

Next post...The other dress with this bold large cheetah print in it. And to think...I never thought I could make cheetah print work.

Last Peek

So here is your last peek at my Rum & Couture Spring 2009 Line.

This is a whimsical green dotted dress with a bright floral bust. I'm so excited because this dress is more fun and less serious than things I've been doing for my resort line.

I hope the bow doesn't throw anyone off of the true dressy nature of this piece. This dress has a zipper in the back and like all of the pieces that I have been working on - it is meant to be worn over a bathing suit or by itself.

I want to thank my roommate for doing this photo shoot and wearing my silly hat and glasses that I will surely be wearing on our vacation this week. Thanks for peeking in and keeping up with me. Now I have a date for the show. It is Saturday April 4th. I'm beyond excited, ask my roommates or look at the photo set of a hall way I have, and can't wait to show you the whole thing. From now on I'll just be posting accessories that will be in the show just so I don't give it all away. I'm bad with surprises but I'll try! Matching accessories in print often make me feel over done and too "matchy matchy" as many of my friends call it. Here is my trial: I'm going to try to coordinate shoes with a bag in print. Color coordinating is one thing...bold prints are another. So, I chose my coach clutch and matching print shoes. As you can see it doesn't get louder than that. (Well yea you can but I won't go there.) I chose matching prints that I could almost hide.
The idea behind it is that with jeans on you can not see all of the shoe. Also, the bag will be clutched in my hand. The prints are noticeable and matching but not loud and taking away from the rest of the outfit. If you have to do matching prints please promise not to wear matching jackets, hats, and pants, and so forth. Please haha. Good luck matching.

I just wanted to post how much I love ski clothes and send out some advice for ski clothing. First ski pants are not flattering on anyone because you have no butt in them. So this is what I say. I have no butt in lots of clothes. So here it is. I like ski clothes because no one can tell if I have a butt or not. But better yet, I went skiing today and in new ski pants. Empyre is a brand that I had never used before. Empyre pants with- serious dry factor. I ate snow like it was my job and my bottom half should have been soaked but it wasn't! I really like these pants. Although their smalls are not small enough and there was snow in my pants at the end of the day. Another great thing I tried out today was my underarmor shirt that has thumb holes in the sleeves. GREAT IDEA> no snow in my gloves or sleeves. It was so much better. So there you are. My new favorite ski things.

Well I have kicked off my spring line with two new dresses. I can't wait. It's great to be working on my line again. I had to put stuff on hold for finals.
I also am excited because I really love frilly stuff and again another picture of inspiration on my line. Not sure how many pieces I am going to do. The best thing is that I can choose how many. Only time will tell I guess. I'm betting on ten.
The other things I will be working on are a line of necklaces and bags. As well as some cute room accessories. The first ones I plan on working on are pillow projects and the roll up down floor sleeper.

My Inspriation

So the fashion show went great! I am very excited to post some pictures of the pieces we made as soon as they come back. Right now I want to post about this dress --> which has become my inspiration for my spring '09 line. I feel that I really is everything I want in a line. The floof and shortness of spring. The colors that pop and the playfulness of the line that I really want to be felt.

The dress is also the two layer look that i am going for. I love layers in dresses that a bouncy because it's like having more than one piece working at a time. The depth of the dress really gets me because it look full and playful in the way the allows me to feel like has several meanings. The dress is also strapless which I like. I want to incorporate more strapless things into my spring line because its fun and I love showing off people's shoulders. It's the part of the body that I feel most people either don't like or don't show off.

So here I am beginning my next three adventures. I want to make a line for a February fashion show on a warm cozy level. Mostly indoor stuff. Jackets are fun to make but I'm not feeling it right now. Then a spring get away line to be my main line for the spring. Finally I'm going to attempt a 3 to 5 piece couture line that is all concept and art based rather than functional and wearable. I want to show my most crazy ideas that stir in my brain. It's going to be a mix of Victorian and fairy tale like clothing. Anyways, off to start doodling and collecting samples. It's like the work never ends and I love that.

Recycled Clothing

So it has taken me more than half a year to remember the email and password combination that I used to open this thing. I forgot it one day and now it just came to me.

So let's talk about my new art obsession. I am looking to decorate my room in every authentic art piece I can find. This one I found online while looking for something else and since then I have been looking for an artist who could replicate this amazingly cute and quirky picture that was finger painted by a small child.

This fall will be the first time I debut any sort of fashion line. I'll be designing for a going green cause and hopefully will post pictures soon. It's in November. Until then, I'll be here updating my progress!

For the Love of Pearl

I'm a Sponge Bob fan, and that is my favorite saying that Mr. Crabs uses. But, in all seriousness, I love pearls. My mother and grandmother have always loved them, so I even though I loved them, I always associated them with an older generation. In high school I tried not to rock the grandmother trends. A few years ago I began to wear pearls. I stopped caring that I could possibly be making myself into an eighty year old woman. Haha, just kidding. Although the pearls felt old to me, I began to see them as timeless. They had an elegance to them that no longer exists. They are delicate and pretty with out being overly flashy and obnoxious, no matter how big they are.
I finally bought my first necklace about two years ago. Since then I have added a few other pieces to my collection. Even better, the pearl trend has been hitting the fashion scene pretty hard lately. I know, like everything else in that fashion business, it will fade as fast as it got here. But, I'm not worried this time. I know the rules; one minute your in, the next your out. I know I'll be wearing pearls no matter which phase the fashion world is in. Like I said before, they are timeless to me.

Over this past summer I was bored and I decided to read through some old magazines. In an older issue of Vogue I read an article about a woman who designed the most beautiful rings out of seashells. These rings were so beautiful I wanted to see them in person. She described her jewelry as a center pieces in themselves. I had to take a look. So, I dragged my semi-willing room mate to SoHo to take a peak at these ,mostly, undiscovered treasures.
Surprise number 1- When I was looking at the rings in Vogue I thought the pictures were enlarged to show detail. I was wrong. These, one of a kind, rings were as big as the picture appeared in the magazine. I was a little surprised at the size, although Mesi Jilly was right. These rings were center pieces. They are perfect for a little black dress.
Surprise number 2- The rings were sized too big for my fingers. I have very small hands, and the rings were quite large. I'm hoping that if I ever want to buy one that I can find one in my size. Camera time in Florida

Ahh the beautiful beach! I am down in Florida taking in the beach. Which is why I havn't really been blogging although I don't know what my excuse is the other times lol. So the beach is nothing but inspiring when it comes to clothes. I can't get enough of the view and the beauty! I can't wait to draw out the clothes that I have come up with down here.
On another note! I now have a functioning camera so I am so excited. I finally will have my own pictures to post. No more searching forever for what I want! So that's somthing to look forward to.

Hey! Ok, so why is Nichole Kidman in my blog? I guess it's because I just can't get enough of the necklace hanging down her back.

For years I have searched for a necklace that i could do that with...as you can probably guess... I have have no luck. What's the solution? I'm giong to make my own. I did on prom and it was adorable. Now...I just need to get to a jewlery supply store and see what I can come up with. The ideas are flowing...If any one has good ideas or even knows where you can buy one thats made already just let me know! I would love to post that for everyone looking for a great necklace!

Number 5 Chanel is a great perfume. It's got a classic smell thats a little stronger than I am used to wearing but it's very classic. Try it out!

Dear Readers,
I really am excited to start writing again. I havn't in a long time and I'm really glad I decided give it a go once more. I am now in NYC and this is the view from my window currently! It's so wonderful to be able to experience the city. I have never been able to spend time here and this is really amazing! I have been spending every second I can soaking up the experience. It's like a mass network of opportunity. I love it.

I'm also in LOVE with the fashion scene. Nothing is more interesting

than walking around the city discovering all the small designers, becoming more familiar with the big ones, and dreaming of becoming one yourself. The Next Best Manicure

If you have ever painted your nails at home you have probably become frustrated with the fact that nail polish doesn't seem to look good past day 1 and starts to chip by day 2. Even getting a costly professional manicure does not seem to help stop the dreaded polish chipping that plagues us all. If this is true for you, take a deep breath and maybe even have yourself a sigh of relief! Revlon is here to save your manicure. The Revlon ColorStay Nail Polish is a three step process to a perfect 10 day manicure.
This is how it works:
1. Apply 1 coat of the color polish to clean, dry, unpainted nails. Let dry.
2. Apply 2nd coat of color polish and let dry.
3. Apply 1 coat of clean top coat polish and let dry.
The polish says it will last 10 day while keeping a chip free shine. I have tried two of the colors and am about to start in on my third. Both times I have used the polish it has stayed chip free for all 10 days. I am not very rough on my nails, but I do have friends that are and even they got several days of chip free polish when they usually get no more than a few hours. The great thing about this polish is that the shiny top coat stays for over half the time. It started to fade on my nails around day 7 so I applied another top coat to it and fixed the problem. You will also notice that the consistency of the polish is a little thicker, and less runny, than other brands. I thought that it was easier to apply then most polishes. But, be prepared to work to get the polish off. The staying power is great for as long as you want your manicure to last but can be difficult when it comes to removing it. It takes a lot of polish remover and cotton balls. When it comes down to it, who can complain? You just had the world's longest lasting manicure.

Ok. So I have been just waiting to get a spring dress. Well more than anything I have been waiting for this stupid snow to melt. Then I will be on the hunt for the perfect short spring dress. But, it seems that no matter where I go there are nothing but cheesy, ugly, over streamlined, crap for dresses options. So then the online search began.

I know I said short when I said I was looking, but come on. This dress is the greatest thing I have seen in such a long time. I am willing to do full length when it looks this amazing. This girl looks like the goddess of sunsets or something that spectacular. Ben De Lisi makes my knees shaky. It's just beautiful. It's one of those dresses that could make you feel on top of the world. So, the hunt is on for a dress that looks like that.

Blogging with Wine

Wow. I have fallen in love with this wine. It's great. Wine is something I have never really been interested in. Then in the past month I feel like it's a part of everything I have done. I have a suite mate who had a birthday and she's crazy about wine. I decided to try to like it. It took a while with champagne to really start liking it. When I finally started to like it, I couldn't get enough. I feel like this is what is happening with my wine taste. I started with a couple other wines but tonight a couple friends and I broke into the Renoto and it's just lovely. If anyone has any suggestions on good wines to sample then feel free to post them. So far these have rated as good on my list.

Tea Tree and Coach Perfume

Hey Hey Readers,

This past weekend I was at the mall and went into The Body Shop. Now, this is how it happened. I didn't mean to just pop in but my roomie from school bought me this great lotion for Christmas. It's called Satsumain lotion and it smells amazing. I have been lathering my hands in it and smelling them constantly. So, in the mall I recognized the smell and had to follow it into the store. They were burning it an oil form and it was amazing. But, instead of buying more of the selection like I thought I would, I ended up buying three things out of the Tea Tree Oil line. It's supposed to be really good for combination skin because it has antibacterial properties and helps control oil. So I will start the regime tonight and keep you updated on how that works out.

I also made my way into the Coach store to check out the new merchandise they had so nicely e-mailed me about. The new perfume was worth going to smell. And, they had a great selection of limited (I think) purses celebrating the new perfume. So if you see this bottle --------> Give it a whiff.

The Letter Q

I really like the letter Q. And just so you know...I am only intersted in the song "Jesus Take the Wheel" becuase the name cracks me up. I'm alittle upset tonight lol because I just realized that my friend who can't figure out how to use her blog after just one post and shes got more comments than I do. I have sooo many posts. Well anyways lol it doesn't matter because I really like to write.

And I really need to start looking into Blues Music. I have been really into jazz lately. But, Blues is such a deep historical musical genre. It's so beautiful and meaningful. I have to download it tonight and start a library of what I like. It's a lot of fun to really get to know a new kind of music. You just have to dive right in. Download some of the classics, a little bit of something you have never heard of and just go with it. You may not find anything you like, you may find just a few things, or you may find that you like everything.

Like jazz. I just tried to get to know it. I learned to like it from my family. My uncle plays in a band in Chicago and he has a few CD's out. Nothing famous or anything but it's really cool to know that I have some musical talent in the family. I really have fallen in love with Ray Charles and Ella Fitzgerald. If you get a chance to listen to them really take the time and spend alittle while looking up the lyrics. I am just getting into some relativley unknown artists so I'll update you on what else I find that I can share with you all.

Sorry for the drought of writing. This is why. I'm now back at school. Things have been a little hectic, but I'm trying to get back on the ball with writing. So here is what I have had my eye on lately. Girlshop.com is a great source of fun stuff. This sweater...which is a great winter piece...is also a great spring piece. It has no sleeves and as you can see it is perfect with a short sleeve or sleevless shirt. I'm so in love. So grab it if you love it because besides being the perfect sweater for spring, it's also on sale right now.

Coach Outlets

Ok, so this is not the greatest image I could find of this new Coach Bag but you can get the idea. Coach just introduced the Carley their newest style of bag. It comes in a few sizes and many colors. Including blue strapping on this bag with that print. I found the contrast to be cute and quirky.I am really impressed with Coaches e-mails. If you are like me and love everything Coach does it's a great idea to subscribe to their newsletters. They really do a great job of keeping you informed of all sorts of cool things they are doing. Plus you get to see their special additions and exclusive items. It is really something worth keeping up with if you are an avid purse lover.

Speaking of Coach, I happened to drive by the Coach outlets today and I was devistated to see that the clock said we had no time to stop. But this I do know, I will be stopping there soon. I am always impressed with the selection they have. Sometimes outlet shopping dissapoints me becuase I tend to only find stores packed full of things no one would buy the first time around. It's either tooo old or to ugly. But Coach never dissapoints me. I have to say it's because their stuff never seems to go out of style. And, almost always it's not ugly.

So stop in. It's a great way to stock up on things that you usually wouldn't splurge on because of price. For example. I love the bags and will pay a lot for one, but by the time I'm done I don't want to spend anymore money on accessories like a key fob or scarf. At the outlets they always have plenty of these items at lower prices. I don't feel so bad going for the accessories at that point becuase at least I will still have money in the bank account when I leave. Hopefully LOL.

I loved that book series. It was cute. I was funny. Shopaholic books were witty and interesting. I really couldn't imagin being as bad of a shopaholic as the main character Becky was. She literally turned everything good in her life into a distaster because she couldn't control her shopping. It was funny because I really didn't think anyone was like that. But really, where is the line between compulsive shopper and shopaholic.

Now mind you, I'm not maxing out credit cards, but it is interesting to me to think about what really qualifies you to be a shopaholic. Is it the impulse shopping? Conpulsive buying? Skipping out on bills because you can "pay it later"? I don't really know. And when do you know you shop to much. We all have our money sins. It's not like everyone can budget and stick to it. I just want to know that I don't have a problem. Or really, if I do. If it is true, if I am an irresponsible shopper, how do I stop and what happens to my friends that are ten times worse than me. Not a real life changing idea, but still one to contemplate.

The New Sexy/Lazy

I like to see that the sweatshirt is making a come back. It was really 80's/early 90's. Then came the wildly popular hooded sweatshirt. Ahhhh....the hoodie, I really do love the hoodie. It has revolutionized my closet and really a lot of my friend's closets. But the sweatshirt is really a great piece in anyone's closet because its really a low key option. It's a nice warm up. It feels easy and lazy. And I love easy and lazy when it comes to a low key day! Victoria Secret does a great job of creating something easy and laid back and making it sexy and cute. It could be the name that makes me think sexy, but whatever it is....it works. lol.

Concentration Time

We just opened a new salon at work. Normally it was just a plain old tanning salon and now we have added hair and nail services. I'm really tired because I have put in about 30 hours of work in the last 2 1/2 days. It's been really intense but totally worth it. I get to learn about starting, running, and working with in a new business. Eventually I want to own my own business when I get out of school but for now I have the opportunity to learn hands on what it's like to run a business. First rule. You can't know everything...look around, there is plenty of good advice and information around you. It's online, from other people who own businesses, and at the library. There are so many resources available. I really never knew what research can do for you but it's changed the way I look at business. For example, having a company website. It's all about advertising the website which in turn will advertise the product. There are so many resources online on how to make an effient and profitable website to go along with your business.

Anyways. I have school work to do. Finals are coming up and I'm getting ready. Then it's break and the wait till next semester. Lol. For now I've got plenty of things to do.

Black Friday and I'm not Shopping

For the past few days I have been in home heaven. It's so nice to be here and get a break from school and work. Not that I don't love my job. I am one of the few people who really can't complain. I have a nice job and a nice boss and a really nice opportunity. We are building a beauty salon down stairs from the tanning place and it really is exciting because it was my idea. Once my boss agreed and liked it...it went into action. It's been several months since the business proposal and it's finally just days away from opening. It's really exciting. Anyways. Family holidays usually stress me out...just because there is so much to do. I really love it though. And this year I didn't feel the stress as much. Maybe I ate myself into a stupper.

Or maybe it was the all day shopping, very theraputic, trip with my Aunt and Cousin on Wednesday. It was nice to rebond and talk again. With our lives so hectic and being away at school I miss out on that quailty time.

But the mall. Yes. The mall was interesting. SOOOOOOO many people so little time. But my favorite was definally the woman who looked like her hat could fly away. By itself. She was walking through the food court when we were having lunch and she was flying by so fast that if my cousin had not spotted her from a distance it would have been something I missed. She was in head to toe patchwork. Bright and colorful patch work all over her floor length coat and her very large brimmed hat. But the hat was the best thing she was wearing. It was every color and pattern patchwork even available I believe and it was covered in insanley large feathers. They stuck out longer than ostrich feathers. I don't know how she could even see to walk.

And even though I didn't go crazy and buy a ton of things, I really did feel like I got something better. I bought books. I finally brought myself to do it. I always want to but then I think that I can just get them at the library. Most of the time I can't becuase the library system sucks where I go to school. So I bought myself five good reads and I feel like a million dollars could not have satisfied me on my shopping trip more than this.....well maybe. But it would be close.

I have been saving all of the pictures that inspire me to design clothes. There are so many things that I see everyday that I really want to remember for when I start designing clothes. The thing is that I don't know when that is....so I decided to cut out the things that inspire me and put them in a book so that I will have them to look at when I finally do start designing.

This Dolce and Gabbana piece was something that really caught my eye. I like it because I'm hugh on staying warm and looking cute.

I really think thats a bad picture of it. But you get the idea. Its really warm and really fitted. I feel like you can be warm and cute even though you are going to have to look a little bulky. I hear a lot of people complain that they lose their middle in warm winter coats.

It's ok! It's winter and everyone is wearing the same shapeless coats. But I find that coats with belts are cute. A little older looking but thats classic and I find that they still give you a waist. There is one coat that I found that I'm in love with. I'll have to post it next time when I get a chance. Have a great day! Happy beginning of the holidays.

I really appreciate her words and her poetry because it is very strong. I read that poem and feel good to that I am a woman with a body, but I am not just a body, I am some body. It is important to remember that. Many women get caught up in their own body. As if a body makes you who you are. It is important to accept your body and feel powerful in it. It is also important to remember the somebody that you are.

Even I, who thinks about this all the time, get caught up and confused about body image and trying to accept it into my life in a healthy way. Sometimes I look at my body and think "a females body is sexy and powerful." I think to use it to my advantage. When others consider this I usually get mixed responses.

Some say: You put women back hundreds of years, we work hard to show our minds make us equals. Men hold us down by making us worth nothing more than a body for sex.

Some say: You have something powerful and sexual. You have another tool to use to your advantage. Don't hate and hide the female body just because it holds this strengh.

But sometimes I feel like relying on your body is wrong. Depending on your mind seems like the most reasonable way to go. Other times I feel like why do I let sexuality seem like a negative thing. As a matter of fact it seems like more than ever when women were held as unequals their bodies were being held back just like their minds.

So why not flaunt it all. You can use everything you have. You don't have to be ashamed of being intelligent or sexy. Just doing it in the right way seems like the best idea. If you have something intelligent to say, then share. You don't have to be a arrogant know it all to sound smart. Doing it tastfully to help yourself and others seems appropriate. I am deffinally in love with massages. Really brightens up your day. I realize your body's condition says a lot about you. I have been really busy and lots of things are changing all over the place. The massage therapist told me I have a lot of tension in my back. Could be. So of course I let her work out the kinks as I tried to work out the kinks in my mind. I can't help all the stress in my life. I just need to learn to handle and destress once in a while. So I have a yoga dvd that I plan on doing when I need to relax. Healthy and relaxin. LOL less stress here I come.

I really love Lucille Clifton. Her work is feministic and real. I enjoy reading about how she views herself and others .... take a look at something she's written sometime. It really gives a fresh and different out look on the subjects she talks about. Maybe I will put one of her poems in tomorrow. As for now, I am going to go study some spanish....get some sleep. I really think when I sleep right after I study it sticks with me better....who knows.

First times a charm

First time blogging is kinda exciting. I really never got into it but did enjoy reading other people's. I guess this is kind of an experiment. Like journals you keep in highschool that you write in only seven or eight random entries a year just because you found it under your bed once in a while and felt bad cause you had made a new years resolution to write in it everyday. I am going to try to write in here at least twice a week. Just to keep up with everything. I'm trying to make a point to write everyday. Eventually publish a book or two. LOL but I never really sit down and write...so I guess this is an effort to force some quailty keyboard time out of myself. So enjoy!

I really love the idea of a charm bracelet. It really is...well...charming. You can create a story or anything with it really. The one above is really pretty just because I love the pink. Its very dainty while still being chunky. The only thing is that I don't like wearing it because of all the jingeling and heavyness. I am on a mission to create one that is so great I have to wear it. First. What do I want on it...I guess I'll have to think about it.
